Our Team

 

Each of our Speech Pathologists holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and our Occupational Therapist is nationally certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). All of our therapists are licensed to practice in the state of Florida.

 

Casey, M. Ed., CCC-SLP
Owner of Speak Outside the Box

Casey Rovinski M.Ed., CCC-SLP is a state licensed, nationally certified pediatric speech-language pathologist based in Tampa, FL. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of various developmental delays including autism, CAS (Childhood apraxia of speech), and speech delay. 

  • Casey is dedicated to providing evidence based, quality intervention to children ages birth to school-aged in their homes, daycares, or preschools. She works closely with parents and other team members including occupational therapists, behavioral therapists, feeding specialists, and special educators to facilitate a multi-disciplinary approach centering around a child’s interests, daily routines, and natural interactions.

    Casey’s clinical expertise stems from a background working with children with autism. Her passion for autism developed after completing her bachelors at SUNY Geneseo in upstate New York. Prior to obtaining her masters degree she was employed at various schools and clinics for children with autism including BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services), Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, and Rochester Hearing & Speech Clinic. Post grad school her love for working closely with parents and educators in a child’s natural learning environment developed as she took her first job in early intervention.

Ashley
Office Manager and OTA/L

Ashley is a licensed occupational therapist assistant, born and raised in southwest Florida. Ashley found her passion in pediatrics and spent many years working in an outpatient setting. Upon becoming a mother, she took a break from practicing therapy to stay at home with her young son. During this time, she began providing virtual assistant services to small business owners looking to grow their business. Ashley has loved being a part of the SOTB team from afar and she is eagar to dive back into the world of occupational therapy.

Carlie, M.S., CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist

Carlie Martin is a state licensed and nationally certified pediatric speech-language pathologist. As a New England Native, Carlie received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies  from the University of Rhode Island. She received her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of New Hampshire with a focus in pediatrics.

  • Carlie has treated children from birth-to-18 years old in a variety of settings including private practices, early intervention home care, and special education schools. Carlie has clinical experience with autism, developmental delay, augmentative and alternative communication, language disorders, fluency, swallowing, and articulation/ phonological disorders. She has worked closely with multidisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, behavioral specialists, speech language pathologists, educators and parents. Carlie is passionate about targeting functional communication through play, connection, and collaboration.

Amanda, CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist

Amanda graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Masters degree (although a Gator at heart!) From there, she went on to work in a hospital rehab setting specializing in populations like stroke, aphasia, and traumatic brain injury.

  • She has also worked at a local school for special needs where she grew to love the pediatric population. Amanda met Casey while teaching dance together at Ms Lisa's Dance studio and a few years later had the opportunity to be apart of the Speak Outside the Box Team. She could not be more thankful to work with little ones (especially now that she has a little one of her own!) and to help them find their "voice".

Erin, CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist

Erin Ellis was born and raised in Tampa. She attended the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Business Administration and Elementary Education.

  • She went on to obtain her Master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Speech-Language Pathology. She worked for Hillsborough County Schools for five years and has experience working in both private practice and school settings. She has assessed and treated preschool, elementary, and middle school aged children individually and in a group setting with a variety of disorders. 

    During her time in the schools, she worked closely with a team of professionals including psychologists, guidance counselors, administrators, teachers, exceptional student education teachers, occupational therapists, and the augmentative and alternative communication team to meet the needs of her students. 

    She has clinical experience among children with Developmental Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Language Disorders, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Fluency Disorders, and Articulation/Phonological Disorders. She is licensed in the state of Florida and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. 

    Having three young children of her own, Erin has a passion for showing children how powerful their communication can be and providing therapy that is functional and fun.

Emily, M.A., CF-CCC SLP
Speech Language Pathologist

Emily Lawrence was born and raised in Minnesota. She attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Communication Sciences and Disorders. She went on to gain her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin River Falls in Speech-Language Pathology.

  • Emily has experience working in the hospital inpatient and outpatient, school, and private practice settings. Emily has experience in evaluating and treating articulation/phonological disorders, expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language disorders, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delay, Down Syndrome, fluency disorders, voice disorders, cognitive therapy, and Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC). Emily has had the opportunity to be mentored by Casey and is extremely passionate about collaborating with families and other providers to best support each client. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of expressive, receptive, and pragmatic disorders with a heart for children with language delays and developmental delays including ASD, speech delay, and Down Syndrome.

Taylor, M.A., CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist

Taylor Anderson is a pediatric speech-language pathologist who is passionate about neurodiversity-affirming care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and play-based intervention rooted in relationships. She received her undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from California State University, Northridge, and her master’s in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

  • Taylor is a DIR/Floortime Provider and has advanced training in pediatric feeding disorders, AAC, and trauma-informed care. Taylor’s SLP journey has included early intervention settings, schools, a children’s hospital, and outpatient clinics. She is passionate about collaborating with families to meet their child where they are, in order to foster authentic connection and engagement with the world around them. Taylor enjoys adventuring with her dog, spending time with family, reading, dancing, and exploring outdoors. 

Abby, MS, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist

  • bby Wright is an occupational therapist (OT) at SOTB. Occupational Therapy focuses on working with individuals to reach their maximum potential and independence in their daily activities. In children, common childhood occupations include play, activities of daily living, access and participation in educational activities, and social participation. Occupational therapy uses client-centered meaningful activities to support the development of a variety of foundational skills. Abby enjoys collaborating with teams and families to promote positive connections through the shared enjoyment of activities across all environments.

    Abby attended Purdue University for her Bachelors in Health Science, with minors in Biology and Psychology, and the University of Indianapolis for her Masters in Occupational Therapy. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and a National Board Certified Occupational Therapist. Abby has worked in a variety of settings including pediatric outpatient clinics, as an early intervention state evaluator in Illinois, public and private school settings, and community-based programs for teens and adults with Autism.

    Abby has an advanced certification in Neuro-Developmental Treatment with a pediatric specialty. She has additional training in the areas of sensory processing, self-regulation and executive functioning, assistive technology, Handwriting Without Tears, sound-based interventions, and infant and early childhood mental health.

    Abby enjoys being outdoors and spends her free time kayaking and exploring local trails with her husband and her Goldendoodle Sutton. She has a love for learning and enjoys reading, visiting new places, and trying new foods.

Karla
Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow

Karla Simonet is a bilingual (English & Spanish) speaker and graduate student clinician on her way to obtaining her provisional license to become a certified speech-language pathologist. Karla has previously worked with both children and adult populations. She is a published author in our field and presented at ASHA 2020, where she shared her adaptation of a Spanish version to an assessment for analyzing oral disordered discourse. She is excited to serve children and families with diverse backgrounds to provide them with evidence-based intervention. Karla has found her love in pediatrics and is passionate about play-based therapy.
